French Resistance Fighter Description:
The basic Action Man Action Soldier figure from 1966, could be accessorised with one of these popular uniforms from the range entitled "Soldiers of the Century" (SOTC) that first appeared in c.1967 and appear in the 1968 Equipment Manual. They included the British Infantryman, German Stormtrooper, Russian Infantryman, Australian Jungle Fighter, French Resistance Fighter and American Green Beret. All sets were available in one complete set, or on two 'half cards'. Also included with the set was the 'Intelligence Manual' - showing line drawings of all the soldiers, their equipment and a brief summary of their exploits. The range was renamed in 1973 as 'Soldiers of the World (SOTW).' The 'new' 1973 French Resistance Fighter was very similar with some modifications.

Notes:
The popular Action Man French Resistance Fighter appeared in 1967 within the 'Soldiers of the Century' (SOTC) and re-appeared in the later 'Soldiers of the World' (SOTW) range of 1973 with minor detail changes. The French Resistance Fighter is fairly common and captured children's imaginations. The Action Man French Croix de Guerre medal was often lost and is sometimes confused with the similar looking Action Man VC. First issue medal had closer together ribbon stripes. Fabrics changed a little over the many years of production, notably to a finer jean fabric, and the elastic strap of the machine gun changed to plastic in the mid-seventies. The brown shoulder holster had a pip and slot connection at the back which often is missing. Components of the Action Man French Resistance uniform and weapons were also available on accessory cards.
