Action Man Solar Hurricane SH-109 Description:
"The Solar Hurricane was based upon the Denys Fisher's 6 Million Dollar Man Bionic vehicle. Denys Fisher was based in Yorkshire and was also part of the General Mills Toy Group" comments Bob Brechin, Chief Palitoy Designer. One of a line of Star Wars challenging space craft for Action Man, the three wheeled Solar Hurricane Craft held one Eagle Eyed Action Man Space Ranger / Patroller / Commando to pilot and featured a removable wing arrangement that allowed it to be converted between a 'land car' and a space craft. Two red slide switches on top of the Hurricane shot two opening hollow 'message pods' [the engine pods] away from the body. A switch on the lower right hand side operated a electronic engine and laser noise and pulsating red laser bulb on the front of the vehicle. The battery compartment (PP3) is sited in the front bulkhead. There is a small box with a slide open lid named 'Portable Neutron Destruct Pack' also as part of the set. The Action Man Solar Hurricane came with a set of paper stickers and an instruction sheet. (replacement repro stickers available here) for the owner to apply carefully following the included instruction sheet.
Notes:
The body is hard plastic but has no crash resistance and therefore extremities can easily break. The canopy has a fragile clip in its back edge that is more often than not broken or with cracks. The vehicle is fairly rare especially in good condition. The box featured 10 stars on its side, which could be saved and redeemed against other accessories.
