Notes:
The blow-molded Armoured Car first appears in the 1969 Equipment Manual. It was a very popular vehicle and very rugged. It looks as if it is based on the British Army's "Ferret' Armoured vehicle. The first wheels had no insides - they were shaped like an ashtray. Later wheels were hollow but complete. The black machine gun was blow-molded originally with integral mount. In common with later Action Man vehicles of the mid 1970s the Browning machine gun progressed to hard plastic with silver tip and separate mount (fragile and prone to damage or loss). The Armoured Car was actually blow-molded in the Coalville Pailtoy Factory. An updated version of the Armoured Car (from 1973) featured two clear plastic headlamps and a whip aerial (both of the Scorpion Tank type) inserted into a drilled hole at the back offside. This version also had redesigned stickers to compliment the Landrover and Scorpion regimental style. The vehicle was ideally suited to the Armoured Car Commander of 1968. After production ended for the Armoured Car, a similar looking Scout Car was launched to replace it. The easiest way to tell the two apart is the opening on the top - the Armoured Car has a hexagonal hatch, whilst the Scout Car has a circular one.
