The Action Man Searchlight was a 'working model which can be carried in the back of the Landrover'. The idea was it could be fitted in the cargo area, being of the same dimensions. The light and column was fitted onto base and twisted into a bayonet fitting type lug. Two spade connectors were threaded through base hole and had to be hand connected to two battery terminals. It took the bulky 4 1/2 v Ever Ready Battery (1289). It featured a push button switch to back for morse code messages or a direct beam and came with a green elasticated lens cover.
The Action Man Searchlight is basically a torch and lens styled into a nighttime Action Man accessory. The light could be tilted up and down to aim the beam. The bayonet fitting lug connecting the column to the base is vulnerable to breakage. It first features in the 1976 Action Man Equipment Manual and last features in the 1978 manual.
