"Kit out your Action Man for every phase of military service with these authentic true-scale equipment sets", read the Equipment Manual. Action Man Armoured Car Commander is basically an accessorised Action Soldier. He appears for the first time in the 1969 Equipment Manual. There was an Armoured Car for him to drive. The accessories could be bought as set or separately and included:
ACTION MAN ARMOURED CAR COMMANDER SET: Commander jacket, tank helmet, (M1919 Browning) machine gun, radio and tripod, ammo box, pistol belt, holster, .45 pistol, Equipment Manual.
The Action Man Armoured Car Commander is one of the rarer sets and difficult to find in good condition. The jacket is similar to that of the Tank Commander, however the 1st issue jacket has a strap at neck level, that was later designed out. The tripod is easily broken, and the decals on the radio are prone to fall off. The Comms arm on the helmet and visor are also fragile and often missing. The tripod for the Action Man Browning machine gun is the folding type. Later versions had fixed version. He is paired up with the Action Man camo trousers. The 40th Anniversary Collection version of this jacket has many reports of laminating of the vinyl covering.
