Period: 50th Anniversary
Dates: Jan 2017 -
Cat No: AM00003
On 19th January 2017 a uniform set similar in design to that of the original 1966 Paratrooper was released to further celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the launch of the basic Action Man Action Soldier of 1966 in the UK. This release re-establishes the Action Man brand once more. The Paratrooper's equipment appears similar in design to the vintage Paratrooper set. The figure constitutes four sets in one - all were all originally separate purchases in the 1960s: 1. Basic action figure, 2. Paratrooper set 3. 'Beachhead Assault' style shirt and trousers set. 4. Helmet and netting set. However in addition this new figure in a presentation box, he has a fully working lightweight silk-style khaki parachute - not seen before in the original offering. He has brown flock hair, and gripping hands and a hand-made body similar to the original Action Man action figures of the 1960s and 1970s. He comes in a quality window box that also doubles as a presentation box with a drop zone 3D diorama. He is produced by Art + Science International, the licence holders.

PARATROOPER SET (AM714): Action Man figure, boots (tall brown), helmet, helmet netting, shirt and trousers, canteen, canteen cover, web belt, knife, scabbard, Carbine, 3 x hand grenades, parachute pack with parachute, colour Action Man booklet, dog tag.
The Action Man Paratrooper set was launched in 1966 as a set, or on equipment cards. See Action Man Paratrooper. The lightweight silk parachute and lines easily fit inside the new backpack. The jacket is clearly labeled 50th, and has clear buttons - distinguishing it from the predecessor and the helmet lugs are stronger and of a much different design to the fragile original helmets of the 1960s. The colour booklet has AM00003 printed on its cover, and is the same inside as all the first wave booklets.
